Arts & Design

In Israel as around the world: artists lead and the rest of us follow. Novelists, filmmakers, fashion designers, musicians, choreographers, architects, and fine artists make Israel their home. Dani Karavan shows us the Way of Peace in his earthwork leading from Nitzana to Egypt. Choreographer Ohad Naharin encourages us to "go to places where the pleasure in movement is awakened." Schools like Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, hum with the sound of 3-D knitting machines. And institutions like Artport Tel Aviv foster emerging artists from Israel and abroad. If you want to get to know the character of a place, exploring its art and design is a good place to begin. It’s not news that artists are often pioneers—challenging our way of thinking, and yet giving us a respite from the routines of our daily lives as we immerse ourselves in their creations.
